Barcelona’s Gerard Pique ‘dating student Clara Chia Marti’ since divorce from Shakira

Gerard Pique has been dating a student who works for him since his split from pop superstar Shakira, according to a source close to the new flame.

The Barcelona defender, 35, has not wasted his time following the breakdown of his 11-year marriage to the Colombian singer, which was announced in June. The pair first met when Pique was on set for the video for Shakira’s official 2010 World Cup single ‘Waka Waka’ before entering a relationship later that year. They share two children, sons Milan and Sasha.

However, Pique has been reportedly dating student Clara Chia Marti, 23, for the last few months, which has raised eyebrows about the timing of his separation from Shakira, 45. Chia Marti, a PR student, works for Pique’s sports and media investment group Kosmos and the pair have allegedly met while working on events together.

In 2018, Kosmos struck a $3 billion deal with the International Tennis Federation to transform nation-based competition the Davis Cup, which Great Britain won in 2015 for first time since 1936, and “generate substantial revenues for global tennis development”.

The couple have reportedly grown closer and have been dating for months but have been trying to keep it “quiet” due to Pique’s recent break-up with the Latin singer.

A source close to Clara told us: “Gerard and Clara have been seeing each other for months. They have been keeping quiet about their relationship but those around them all know what is happening.

“People have been helping him keep the romance hush-hush and have wiped Clara’s social media accounts so people can’t find photos of her. That alone makes his mates think he is actually quite serious about being with her.”

Pique and Shakira split in June after accusations of infidelity by the footballer, who was caught in bed with another woman. It was reported that the couple had been living separately for a few weeks before their announcement after Pique was kicked out of their family home.

Shakira hinted at disharmony between the pair in her recent hit ‘Te Felicito’ with Rauw Alejandro, with the 45-year-old singing: “To complete you I broke into pieces; I was warned, but I didn’t listen; I realised that yours is false; it was the drop that overflowed the glass; Don’t tell me you’re sorry, that sounds sincere, but I know you well and I know you’re lying.”

Renato Sanches Joins PSG from Lille in €15m Deal

Lille midfielder Renato Sanches has completed a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain for €15 million, €10 million more than Lille initially paid to sign him from Bayern Munich in 2019.

It’s a five-year deal at PSG that will see him remain at Parc des Princes until 2027. The Ligue 1 champions also have the option to extend that agreement by an extra year.

“I’m really happy to have arrived here in Paris,” Renato Sanches said.

“I’m sure that I’ve made the right choice by signing for the club. I chose Paris Saint-Germain because I think that it’s the best project for me. Staying in France was important to me, as I know this league already.

“I’m obviously happy to be joining up with some of my Portuguese compatriots. That could also make my integration easier. I already know Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira but not yet Vitinha. I spoke to Nuno before I signed, and he had good things to say about Paris Saint-Germain.”

Renato Sanches – to give his full name, Renato Júnior Luz Sanches – was born on 18th August 1997 in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents. He first played football in 2005, aged eight, at Recreativo Águias da Musgueira before quickly being spotted by scouts from one of the Portuguese capital’s biggest clubs, Sport Lisboa a Benfica. The young Renato was headed for Benfica the following year, then, as he joined SLB’s famous academy.

He climbed up through the youth ranks at breakneck speed and, in 2014, joined the club’s reserves, who play in the Portuguese second division, whilst also receiving his first few international call-ups with the country’s various youth teams. After a successful season, scoring three goals in 39 competitive appearances, the midfielder was promoted to the first team, and his reputation was starting to cross borders. Sanches established himself within Benfica’s midfield with two goals in 33 competitive fixtures, made his UEFA Champions League debut, started off his trophy collection with the Primeira Liga and Taça da Liga titles and received his first few caps with the Portuguese senior team.

His displays won over the Bayern Munich board, who reached an agreement with their Lisbon-based counterparts in May 2016 for the player to be transferred that summer. After his fine first season at the highest level, Sanches was called up by Fernando Santos to take part in EURO 2016 in France and would end up celebrating his 19th birthday slightly early, as he enjoyed a fantastic campaign, even going all the way with Portugal after a 1-0 extra-time win over France in Saint-Denis as well as being named Young Player of the Tournament.

A few months after his arrival in Germany, the Lisbon native was given another prestigious individual award in the form of the Golden Boy, one year before a certain Kylian Mbappé. Sanches’s start to life on the other side of the Rhine was difficult, though, and after just one year and 25 appearances in all competitions, he moved to Swansea on a season-long loan. After another tough spell in the Premier League, making 15 competitive appearances, he returned to Bayern, but after one year and 27 competitive appearances this time, the Portuguese needed to kickstart his career. To do so, he chose the country where his talent had broken through for the whole world to see three years earlier: France.

So, Lille was the destination for Sanches in the summer of 2019, and this time, things started to stick for him under the orders of… Christophe Galtier. He made 30 appearances in all competitions in his first season, scoring four goals, before making 29 appearances in his second season, scoring one goal, and was even a French league title winner with LOSC, who finished ahead of Paris Saint-Germain. After another successful season with Les Dogues (32 competitive appearances and two goals), Sanches now makes his move to the Paris Saint-Germain, where he becomes the 15th Portuguese player in the club’s history.
